Inserting an image into a markdown file using Google Drive.
Overview
This guide is to assist you with inserting an image into a markdown file using Google Drive. This technique should be used if this makrdown file will not be going onto a GitHub repository, as GitHub repositories can have perma-links, whick can link to an image within the repository.
For the sake of simplicity and familiarity, we will be using Google Drive to upload our image into, make a link, edit that link, so that it would be insertable into a markdown file.
Additionally, to insert an image using a link, the markdown code will look like this:

Instructions
In order to begin you must:
- Make a Google Drive Folder.
- Make that Google Drive Folder public and open to all viewers who have that link.
- Upload your images into that Google Document.
- Make sure that your files are public to "Anyone with the link can view" within that Google Document.
- Now, you must copy the Google Drive share link
- Paste that into an open Tab.
The link should look something akin to :
drive.google.com/file/string-of-random-letters-and-numbers/view
When you put this link into , it will not work. The Google Drive link as it is, is incompatible with markdown. You MUST change the link in order for the image to show.
Changing The Link
To change the link, you can use a tool that I have found online, linked below:
What it does is that it changes the formatting of formatting or how markdown "views" the link, so that markdown code can read the link and display the code.
All you have to do is paste the Google Link into the "Resource ID or Link" box and press generate markdown link. It will give you a preview of your image and make something that is viewable to markdown.
And congratulations! You know how to insert images into a markdown file using Google Drive links. I have used this method for making this markdown file as well.
